About Us

History and Industry

In 1980 Tom Hofer rolled his successful franchised lawn care business into Spring-Green Lawn Care Corp. From 1980-1987 the company began taking shape as a franchise organization. This organization remains dedicated to providing entrepreneurial-minded people the opportunity to be in business for themselves but not by themselves. Spring-Green Lawn Care Corp. became a service organization whose primary objective was to serve its customers to the absolute best of its ability.

In 1987 Tom Hofer assumed the role of President and CEO. The corporation continued its evolution under the guidance of this former Navy Lieutenant. It became a lawn and tree care organization made up of professional people who are very good at what they do and take their responsibilities seriously. A common set of values and principles still shape the Spring-Green organization: honesty, integrity and fair play. In 2006, James Young was named President and Tom remained as the company’s CEO.  “Having James assume the role of President allows us to bring a new energy with an increased focus on the use of technology and improved consumer marketing that helps our franchise owners grow their businesses” said Hofer.

Spring-Green lawn care franchises grew rapidly in the Midwest and quickly expanded into the East, the South and the Pacific Northwest. It was an exciting time for the organization. Tom realized Spring-Green was doing great things not only for people associated with the organization, but also for our environment and the world. From then on, Spring-Green positioned itself as a national lawn care service organization whose specialty is creating lush lawns and landscapes. This, combined with Quality, Service, Professionalism and Value, form the basis of Spring-Green's mission statement that inspires us today.

"Spring-Green provides services that beautify our environment through higher standards of Quality, Service, Professionalism and Value."

Today, Spring-Green franchises deliver quality lawn and tree care services nationwide. Our service is centered on the beautification of middle class and affluent neighborhoods and communities.
