What Kind of People Own Successful Spring-Green Franchises?

Spring-Green franchise owners come from wide and varied backgrounds. They all chose a Spring-Green franchise to make their dreams of business ownership come true. Enjoy reading a few of their stories. You'll find they are all great people just like you.

Bill Gundlach

Cicero, Illinois

The owner of two retail sporting goods stores, Bill decided in 1978 to get out of the sporting goods business and start a lawn care service. A Spring-Green franchise was the perfect opportunity, and the rest is history. The winner of numerous Spring-Green awards, Bill has established a remarkable record of success.

Bill explains "I was losing my shirt. I wanted to be in business for myself, but I knew I needed help. I looked to franchising, but I couldn't afford something like McDonald's. I like working outside, the freedom of not having a boss, the satisfaction of meeting goals, and knowing I will have a job if I work hard."

We receive support on things like marketing, equipment, employees, materials and compliance with governmental regulations. They keep us informed on new technology and strive to make the franchise system better by testing things before recommending them."

Roger Grose

Marietta, Ohio

After serving in the Army and holding positions as an air-traffic controller, a sales manager and a purchasing agent, Roger was actively looking to start his own business in 1988. Starting a lawn care business with Spring-Green was the perfect fit. "Spring-Green's start-up costs and income potential fit my plan," Roger said. "I like having control of my future, my income and the hours I work. I enjoy working with my customers and helping them make their property more attractive and valuable."

"Being part of Spring-Green helps my small business operate and compete at the level of a much larger business. Spring-Green provided a good foundation and framework to build my business on. With that, I applied my hard work and aspirations to develop a company that I am very proud of today".

Philip Talbert

Fayetteville, Arkansas

After running the lawn care division of a nursery business, Philip became the manager of the Spring-Green franchise he now owns. He purchased his lawn care franchise in 1990. "When the previous franchise owner decided to sell, I wasn't sure whether I could buy the business and achieve the level of success I wanted or not. But, I went ahead with it anyway."

"I appreciate the comfort of having someone at Spring-Green Corp. to call when the need arises, and my lawn care business allows me to have a family oriented lifestyle. I enjoy working outdoors, the change of the seasons and helping my customers with their lawns and landscapes. There are busy times and not so busy times. The not so busy times give me the opportunity for more time away from work."

Bob Kish

Tigard, Oregon

After being a health care professional for 19 years, Bob became unhappy with his situation when he faced the threat of downsizing. "After meeting with Spring-Green, I was confident that I would receive the type of support that would help me become successful in the lawn care business," Bob said.

"Being in business for myself gives me the freedom to be more involved with my family, to support their school activities and control my financial future. I found I really enjoy working outdoors and providing a needed service to others. Lawn care businesses have the potential for continued growth, and they provide good cash flow."
