Brown Patch

Tall Fescue lawns, a typical lawn type in North America, can be susceptible to a variety of diseases. One such common disease is “Brown Patch.” Especially in dryer areas of the country, brown patch can be mistaken for heat or drought stress on a lawn – but brown patch and its effects can be quite different.

The following are common warning signs of the disease:

  • Climates with extended periods of hot, humid conditions
  • Irregular, water-soaked blades of grass – sometimes with brown-rimmed spots
  • Turf areas that appear “under-watered” or “drought stressed”

Brown patch can occur even if the soil’s moisture is well-maintained, and once it has infected the grass it can be very costly to renovate the turf. One way to prevent brown patch from occurring is proper lawn care and special care to not over fertilize. As a Spring-Green franchise owner, you’ll offer a Spring-Green Brown Patch Preventer program that helps fight brown patch disease. It is one of the other yard services that Spring-Green offers to help maintain every aspect of your landscape.
